Back to School Checklist

The first day of school is fast approaching! Here’s a checklist for you to complete—it includes all the important to-do’s to help you (and your child) get ready for what will surely be an incredible year.

Check List
The PTOs and the Foundation, all vital organizations that make MPCSD schools so special, have launched their joint "Are You In?" fundraising campaign. Please learn more about the Laurel PTO and the MPAEF below and contribute to both.

Your support of Laurel PTO allows all students to participate in enriching on-campus activities, attend assemblies, field trips, Mrs. Beckstrom's music class, and so much more.

Laurel 5-Cs funding priorities: Curriculum enrichment, Classroom & Campus needs, Community-building, and Communications.

Help support Laurel students' academic curriculum and social development opportunities!

Your support of the Foundation means that 31 educators continue to teach in our four schools; our children participate regularly in music, art and library with credentialed specialists; and our teachers have innovative programs funded. Help the MPAEF meet its goal of 80% participation among District families!

  •  Teachers provide all students the necessary school supplies for their classroom needs.
  •  A snack to eat at morning recess.

Where to go on the first day of school.
First through third grade students are to assemble at the main play structure. Two bells will ring: one at 8:12, for third graders, and one at 8:23, for first and second grade students. When they hear their bell, students are to "Freeze, hands on knees!" Then the morning yard duty blows a whistle twice, at which point students are to walk directly to their classrooms. Parents may walk with children to the classrooms, say goodbye at the classroom door, then are invited to the volunteer sign up and Back to School Coffee social in the main plaza area that goes from 8:30-11am.

Kindergartners meet on the kindergarten yard. Two bells will ring: one at 8:12, for third graders, and one at 8:23, kindergarten  students. When they hear their bell, students are to "Freeze, hands on knees!" All teachers will meet their students on the yard and bring them to the classroom. Parents say their goodbyes at the classroom door, then join all other parents at the volunteer sign up and Back to School Coffee social in the main plaza area that goes from 8:30-11am.
