Laurel teachers (with the support of the Laurel PTO) provide all the necessary classroom supplies for every student. Click here for the back-to-school checklist.

YES!  There is paid onsite after-school care provided by the Newton Center.  Some independent providers, unaffiliated with Laurel, offer after-school care at their sites as well. Additionally, the Laurel PTO offers an array of after-school programs.

Yes. Check with your child's teacher for his or her specific parent/teacher meeting schedule. Additional meetings can be arranged with your child's teacher if you have issues that cannot wait for the next scheduled conference.     

All Laurel students should bring a snack and lunch every day. Hot lunch can be ordered through The LunchMaster.  All students must still bring a snack each day.  Milk is available for those students who order hot lunch through The LunchMaster.

Our PTO provides plenty of opportunities for volunteer involvement in many capacities which will be made known to you at Back-to-School Coffee, Back-to-School Night, and on the Volunteer Opportunities page. Most teachers also encourage participation in the classrooms as well. Your HRP can give you further direction. General PTO meetings are held twice during the year – in the Fall and Spring. To volunteer for a PTO program or event, start by contacting the PTO Presidents at president@laurelpto.org.    

The Laurel PTO Newsletter is our main source of communication. The newsletter is sent out every Sunday morning. You may occasionally receive mid-week updates or letters from the principal and/or PTO Presidents.

If you have submitted an email address to the District, you will receive the district newsletter, distributed on Fridays during the school year. This is the best way to learn about district-wide news.   Additionally, watch your child's backpack for the Laurel "blue folder", which includes notices from your child's teacher about what is going on at the classroom level.      

Field trips are done on a class-by-class basis at the discretion of the teacher. Check with your child's teacher to find out about specific field trips that are planned for the school year.      

If you have specific issues or questions, please feel free to contact your child's teacher first, and if the issue is not resolved, then contact the Laurel Principal for the campus your child attends for assistance. If special needs are identified, special supports are available.
