Approximately 50 Laurel families receive assistance through the Caring & Sharing Program.

Over 60 students benefit from the Caring & Sharing Program.

Mission: The Caring & Sharing program mission is to help children and families who may need extra assistance at Laurel School. Caring & Sharing programs range from providing Laurel spirit wear and school photo packages, to holiday drives to collect funds, grocery cards, and gifts to distribute during the holidays.

 

Programs: Caring & Sharing has ongoing programs the entire year that include:

  • Thanksgiving Drive - Feed a Laurel Family - a drive to collect funds and gift cards needed to provide grocery cards to Laurel families at Thanksgiving
  • Holiday Giving Tree - a gift-giving opportunity for the Laurel community to support our Laurel families in need at the holidays
  • Scholarship Program - a program to help provide Spirit Wear, school pictures, books from Book Fair (including a bookcase building event), and yearbooks to students in need

 

Donations: It costs roughly $200 to sponsor a scholarship for one child for the year, but a donation of any amount will help a child in the Caring & Sharing program.

All donations collected from now until December 31st will go into the general PTO fund, of which $15,000 is budgeted for Caring and Sharing expenses.  If donations fall short of the $15,000 budget, it will be supplemented by the general PTO funds.  If donations exceed the expense amount, such excess will remain in the general PTO fund.  Donations are tax-deductible.  Please reach out to the Caring & Sharing team and/or Laurel PTO Treasurers (treasurer@laurelpto.org) to receive a receipt/letter verifying your donation.
